The story behind “That's Why”

“That’s Why” is a sunny summer track with a simple, cheerful message: all the hard work during the year is worth it for moments like these. The verses paint the reward — rest and fun on the beach or a terrace, camping out, swimming under the sun, chasing waves and making memories that last into the night. Then the chorus answers the question in the title: that’s why you work your guts out.

The song opens with a playful “Listen!” and keeps the lyrics short, so the relaxed island groove can carry the summer feeling. The day before its release, “That’s Why” was played online by Radio Oldies Music, and listeners responded warmly. Written and produced by Jo Newfarmer, it was released on all platforms on 1 August 2026 and is played in G major (capo 2 on guitar).
