Privacy Statement

Last updated: 8 August 2026

Your privacy matters to me. This statement explains what personal data I collect when you visit jo-newfarmer.eu, why I collect it, how I keep it safe, and what rights you have.

1. Who I am

This website is owned and operated by Jo Newfarmer, an independent singer-songwriter based in Belgium. You can reach me at info@jo-newfarmer.eu.

2. What data I collect

  • Account data: when you register for the fan area, I store your email address and (hashed) password through my secure authentication provider. I also store your display name and newsletter preference if you choose to share them.
  • Visitor analytics: I collect anonymised visit counts, country (based on IP), and page views to understand how the site is used. No personally identifiable information is kept.
  • Newsletter subscribers: only your email address and the date you opted in are stored if you subscribe to the monthly newsletter.
  • Contact messages: when you use the contact form, I receive your name, email address, and message.

3. How I use your data

  • To give you access to the fan area and your account.
  • To send the monthly newsletter to subscribers who opted in.
  • To reply to messages sent through the contact form.
  • To improve the website experience based on anonymous visitor statistics.

4. Cookies and tracking

The site uses essential cookies for authentication and a small number of anonymous analytics cookies. I do not use third-party advertising cookies or trackers. You can disable cookies in your browser, but some features (such as signing in) may not work without them.

5. Third-party services

I use trusted providers for authentication, database hosting, and email delivery. Your data is only shared with these providers to the extent necessary to run the website and send newsletters. I never sell your data.

6. Data retention

I keep your account data for as long as you have an active account. Newsletter subscriber emails are kept until you unsubscribe. Contact messages are kept for up to two years so I can refer back to earlier conversations if needed.

7. Your rights

Under GDPR, you have the right to access, correct, delete, or restrict the use of your personal data. You can update your profile and newsletter preference in your account, or email info@jo-newfarmer.eu to request deletion or a copy of your data.

8. Security

I use industry-standard security measures, including encrypted connections (HTTPS), hashed passwords, and row-level access controls on the database. While I take every reasonable step to protect your data, no online service can guarantee 100% security.

9. Changes to this statement

I may update this privacy statement from time to time. The latest version will always be published here with the updated date at the top.
