Time Goes By

“Time Goes By” is a song every parent will recognise. It starts on a milestone — “My sweetie just turned twenty one” — and from there it looks back: at the pictures from when she was small, the baby steps, the ups and downs every family goes through, the laughter and the tears. Now she stands tall, with the whole world in her hands.

The song doesn’t mourn how fast the years have gone; it is grateful for them. That is the heart of the chorus: time may be “a blurry ride”, but watching someone you love grow up is “a wonderful surprise”. Jo Newfarmer keeps the lyrics short and direct and gives the music room to breathe, with instrumental bridges between the verses. Written and produced by Jo Newfarmer, “Time Goes By” was released on 22 June 2026 and is played in G major.
